What else is going on?

NFH sent out a Call to Action in mid-June regarding the proposed public land
sales in the budget bill in Congress. Many in the cabin community responded
and contacted their legislators. We will be issuing other Calls to Action in
coming months as we move our own bill - the Cabin Program Restoration Act -
through Congress and ask for your support. A sincere Thank You to all who
supported this action by contacting your Members of Congress.

2025 - Year of Fee Retention
Read More in NFH News

Remember the Cabin Fee Act? In addition to stabilizing fees in a structure
and abandoning the flawed appraisal program, it required that this year in
2025, our fees would be retained by the Forest Service. These funds are to
be spent to administer and support this program as well as other recreation.

With 2025 Fee Retention looming over the past several years, NFH was looking
ahead and began dialog with the Forest Service Washington Office (WO). We
shared our priorities, and we talked. And we talked. And of course, all of
you also advocated for use of these fees on your forests.

One very positive outcome has been that the National Special Uses Program
Manager, Brandon Smith, developed guidelines for the use of the funds that
went out to the field. Learn more about why NFH is pleased with the
guidelines and how the funds are intended to be spent.

Also in this issue:

Hear about the 2025 NFH Conference in Pasadena, results of our association
leadership elections, thoughts on becoming a Member Tract of NFH, plus learn
about the wonderful cabin owners and Forest Service staff who received
awards from us.

Mark your calendars if you live within reach of Duluth - we're headed that
way in September!
